September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

01 Sep 2026

At Children’s Cancer Institute, we believe a life should be long. That every child deserves the chance to grow up, grow old and live a long healthy life.

To learn to drive.
To celebrate their next birthday.
To fulfil their potential.

But every year in Australia, more than 1,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer — and three children die each week from the disease.

For those who survive, many will face lifelong side effects from the treatments that saved them.

That’s why we’re pioneering the next generation of childhood cancer research — from personalised medicine through the ZERO Childhood Cancer Program, to safer immunotherapies and AI-driven discovery helping accelerate breakthroughs faster than ever before.

This is cutting-edge research designed specifically for children. And it’s only possible because of supporters like you.

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we're shining a light on the need to accelerate the breakthroughs that will give children the chance to live long healthy lives.

Version 1
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. A time to acknowledge the 1000 children diagnosed with cancer each year in Australia. And the 3 children every week who tragically lose their life to this disease - before they've had a chance to grow up and chase their dreams.

For over 40 years, Children’s Cancer Institute have been pioneering research into safer, more effective treatments, and ultimately a cure for every child with cancer.
A life should be long.

Version 2

Together, we can cure childhood cancer

For more than 40 years, Children's Cancer Institute has been working towards a future where no child dies from cancer and every survivor can enjoy the best possible quality of life.

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we're inviting you to stand with children and families facing cancer and help accelerate the research making longer, healthier lives possible.

Together, we can and we will cure childhood cancer. It's not if, it's when.
