Anne Johnston recognised with OAM

10 Jun 2026

Congratulations to Anne Johnston, Director, Marketing & Fundraising at Children’s Cancer Institute, who was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) as part of the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours List.

The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. Anne’s OAM has been awarded for ‘service to child cancer support’ and recognises her exceptional, selfless and sustained dedication and commitment to raising funds to support research aimed at increasing survival and quality of life for children with cancer.

Across more than thirteen years of service at the Institute, Anne has achieved outstanding and unprecedented success in raising funds for childhood cancer research, which have greatly enhanced Australian childhood cancer research capacity and capability through establishment of new diagnostic and treatment approaches. She has demonstrated a passion for changing the future for children suffering from this disease, through advocacy and support for parents and families of children affected by cancer.

Children’s Cancer Institute Board Member Professor Emeritus Les White AM said “Over the last thirteen years, Anne has played a significant role in the Institute’s growth and success, and this OAM recognition is very well deserved. Amongst many other accomplishments, Anne and her team have played a significant role in one of the most important initiatives in child cancer research and clinical care in this country, namely, the development of the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, the first and only of its kind in Australia.”
