Walk Together. Make History Together.
The 19 for19 Challenge is more than a walk — it's a movement. Born from the courage of Armidale local Anya Zuber, who sadly lost her precious life to osteosarcoma at just 19, this annual event honours her dying wish: to help find better treatments and better outcomes for young people facing this devastating disease.

Why schools love the 19 for 19 Challenge
This is a unique opportunity for your school community to:
- Be part of something bigger — join over 2,500 walkers who've helped raise $1,098,542 in just five years, funding world-first osteosarcoma research at the Children's Cancer Institute
- Experience the New England like never before — walk across three stunning private properties: Victoria Park, Mt McDonald, and By Gorge, finishing at stunning Dangar's Falls in Oxley Wild Rivers National Park
- Teach compassion in action — show students how communities can drive real change and create better futures for kids with cancer
- Build school spirit — walk as a team, experience unique landscapes, and create memories that matter
- The 19 for 19 Challenge is on the first Sunday of Term 4.
What we have achieved so far
Since 2021, the 19 for 19 Challenge has become a signature Armidale event, proving the extraordinary power of community:
- Funding world-first breakthroughs in osteosarcoma research led by Associate Professor Emmy Fleuren at the Children’s Cancer Institute
- $1,098,542 raised - with a goal of $1.4 million by 2027
- Over 2,500 walkers honouring Anya's 19 years of life
- 17% of cancer deaths in children and young adults are caused by osteosarcoma - a rare, aggressive bone cancer that desperately needs better treatments
- Every step you take helps researchers get closer to a cure.
