Biography

Simon joined Children’s Cancer Institute in September 2021 as Chief Financial Officer. In addition to leading the finance function, he is also responsible for Risk and Assurance across the Institute.

He brings to the Institute his extensive global strategic, financial and commercial leadership experience in both senior executive and non-executive roles in large and complex organisations, including in regional CFO/COO roles, ASX and NASDAQ listed companies and large for-purpose and private companies. These businesses have ranged from the Estée Lauder Group, Dymocks Group, Reynolds Wines Limited, NSW Aboriginal Land Council and Business Australia to his own consulting business, InnBusiness Solutions.

Simon has managed significant budgets of over $300 million and controlled assets of over $1 billion and has a focus on business transformation, process re-engineering and change management including commercial decision making and Business Partnering. He also has extensive experience in strategic planning, risk and quality management, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and investment management.

Prior to his commercial career, Simon’s significant professional career was in corporate finance and corporate recovery, principally with Price Waterhouse, in Sydney, London, Canada and Melbourne.

Simon is a Chartered Accountant and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is a non-executive director of YHA, chairing its Audit and Risk Committee, as well as being on the Finance Committee for Sydney Northern Beaches Surf Lifesaving and is a long-time active member of the North Curl Curl Surf Lifesaving Club.
