Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics

We are working to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer in children.

Co-Heads of Theme

Research in the Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics theme focuses on developing new approaches to treat the most aggressive forms of childhood brain cancer, leukaemia , and neuroblastoma.

Research aims

Our broad aim is to develop targeted therapies for childhood cancer that are not only more effective than current therapies but also safer to use in children, causing fewer side effects.

Our approach

Our approach involves:

  • Identifying and validating new molecular targets.

  • Discovering and optimising new drugs or combinations.

  • Developing realistic pre-clinical systems to model clinical activity.

  • Ultimately establishing clinical trials to test new targeted therapies.
