Estate of Hilda and Solon Hadjiandreou

Hilda and Solon lived extraordinary lives filled with love, culture, and compassion.

Though they never had children of their own, their lasting legacy will help give children with cancer the greatest gift of all – a chance to grow up and grow old.

Born in Egypt, Hilda and Solon met while working for the British Government. They married in 1953 and built a joyful life together, enriched by travel, art, language, and community. Hilda was a gifted artist and craftswoman, fluent in multiple languages, and known for her warm hospitality. Solon’s career in aviation brought them across Europe, the Middle East, and Australia.

Just like us, Hilda and Solon believed that a life should be long. So in gratitude for the many years they’d been lucky enough to live, they chose to leave a gift in their Will to Children’s Cancer Institute.

Though they lived far from our labs, their generous decision speaks to their belief in the power of medical research to change lives. Their support helps fuel our world-leading work, like the Zero Childhood Cancer Program, Australia’s first precision medicine program for children with cancer.

Thanks to gifts like these, our scientists are able to make extraordinary progress and give hope to families across the country. We are deeply grateful to Hilda and Solon for making childhood cancer research part of their legacy. Because of them, we are one step closer to our vision: to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health, through research.

Your donation will fund research that will save young lives!
