I'm fundraising for a great cause!
I am shaving the underside of my head to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
My daughter was diagnosed with cancer in March, just before her 2nd birthday. It is hard to put into words the fear you feel being told your child has cancer.
She has endured intensive treatments like chemo, undergone major surgery to remove tumours, and will likely require radiation therapy. Although these treatments will leave her with lifelong health issues, she is lucky that her cancer is treatable.
There are childrens cancers that are currently untreatable, where the parents are told all they can do is make happy memories with the time they have left. It is crushing to imagine yourself in that position.
Finding treatments for these cancers and to find gentler treatments that don't have long term adverse impacts is why I'm starting this fund-raiser.
Every week, 20 kids will be diagnosed with cancer and on average 3 will lose their life. There is usually no known cause, and treatment can go on for many years.
Together, we can help find a cure for childhood cancer and create safer, more effective treatments.
