This is the gift I would like you to make for my birthday. I am a fortunate individual to have survived cancer twice including an Astrocytoma in the left frontal lobe - brain cancer. Unfortunately, the 10 year survival rate when diagnosed with brain cancer is less than 30%. In addition, we have a way to go in understanding brain tumours, how they occur, how they relate to other cancers and treating them for a better survival rate.
Professor David Ziegler and his team are working on developing successful targeted therapies for brain cancers, in particular DIPG (diffuse intrisic pontine glioma), identifying new potential therapies and combinations of drugs that work best at targeting certain brain cancers.
