My target 86 kms

86 kids. Every Month.

That’s how many Australian children are diagnosed with cancer. Not adults. Not statistics. Kids. There’s no warning. No obvious cause. Just families waking up to a nightmare that can last years.I’m taking on 86K for a Cure - one kilometre for every child diagnosed this month, because they don’t get a choice in their fight. Research is what saves lives. It’s what turns fear into survival. It’s what gives parents hope in the darkest moments. But it only happens because people step up. Right now, you can be part of that.If you’ve ever thought, “I should donate to something that matters” - this is it. PLEASE DONATE TODAY. Not next week. Not when you remember. Today. Because 86 more kids will be diagnosed THIS month. And they deserve better. 💛

My Updates

Day 10 – New Shirt, Same Mission 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
Still a bit wet from all the rain, but mainly just humid tonight. The good news though.. my 86K for a Cure shirt arrived in the mail today, so I finally got to flaunt it & take it out for its first walk. Took the dogs out with me, although poor Pabby (Pablo) didn’t quite have the stamina tonight. I ended up carrying him for about half the walk. My poor baby.. turns out this challenge might be tougher on him than it is on me. 😬🐾 The big news though… We are so close to the team fundraising goal today, and I smashed my personal fundraising target 4 days in, which honestly blew me away. I’m incredibly grateful for the generosity and support from everyone who donated. Now I’m sitting here wondering… do I double the goal? And if I double the goal… do I double the kilometres too? 😬😬😬 I’d love to hear what people think. 💛

Day 9 – One of Those Days 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
Does the title make you break out in Lomp Bizkit or is that just me 🤔 Monday was not the most exciting update. Crazy busy work day, rain hanging around, and the dogs starting to get serious cabin fever being stuck inside. It ended up being my WORST tracked day so far. Just one of those days where everything seemed to get in the way a little. I’ve also come to the sad realisation that I think I need new joggers. Mine have definitely seen better days. Devo’d as they were limited edition and I’ve absolutely thrashed them. 😩 Still, the important thing is the kilometres are ticking over, even if it wasn’t a record-breaking effort and an encouraging donation floating through. Some days you smash it, other days you just keep the tally & donations moving forward, and that’s exactly what happened. 💛

Day 8 – The Goodbye Kilometres 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
Sunday was a slower one. A bit exhausted, and a bit sad knowing my daughter was heading back to Melbourne. It was a rainy sort of day, so we kept things pretty simple, went out for lunch at XS Espresso and just enjoyed the last bit of time together before the airport run. I didn’t smash out a huge amount of kilometres, but I still got enough in to keep the tally ticking over. After dropping Mikaylah at the airport, I’m pretty sure I cried more kilometres than I actually walked… but that still counts as emotional cardio, right? Another day down, still moving forward. 💛

Day 7 – Steps & Snacks 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
I’m pretty sure April absolutely smashed it today. She had already knocked out her kilometres before I’d even properly got out of bed.. overachiever. I still managed to track a decent amount myself though. It was a bit of a different kind of day as I spent it having some much-needed mummy–daughter time. We finished the day off at the movies with my girl and my gal pal watching Wuthering Heights. Safe to say any calories I’d burned during the day were very quickly replaced with sushi and peanut M&Ms . 😋 Kilometres done, heart full, snack levels high. Another day ticked off. 💛

Day 6 - The Accidental Kilometers 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
Friday was a content day filming morning , which meant a lot of moving around the studio, different takes, walking back and forth… the kind of morning where you’re definitely on your feet. The problem is, because I don’t wear an Fitness Watch or anything constantly tracking me, those “accidental kilometres” don’t count unless I actually start tracking them. And of course I didn’t. I didn’t even carry my phone on me most of the time 🤦‍♀️ If I’d tracked the steps between the car park, the studio, and everything in between, I’m convinced I would have clocked up triple the kilometres. (Okay maybe not triple… but it definitely would’ve helped.) So later on I still had to make sure I purposely got my walk in and tracked the kilometres properly. Another day down, still chipping away at the 86K. 💛

Day 5 – A Very Good Distraction 💛

Tuesday 10th Mar
Day 5 threw me a very welcomed curveball, a surprise visit from my daughter Mikaylah who flew up from Melbourne. Safe to say the phone and blog updates took a back seat for the weekend. Now we play catch up! I still made sure to get my kilometres in though. Maybe not in the most structured or impressive way… but they were tracked and they happened. Sometimes the challenge isn’t about perfect routines - it’s just about making sure the kilometres happen somehow. Very grateful for the surprise visit… and still quietly chipping away at the 86k💛

Day 4 - Feeling the Support 💛

Thursday 5th Mar
Day 4 of the challenge, 4th of March 2026, & 4 new donations came through today, which is amazing for the cause. But honestly, it also just makes me feel really supported and appreciated. It’s a nice feeling knowing people are getting behind this. (444 = divine encouragement to keep moving forward ✨ - Thank you 🙏🏼 ) Smashed out my kilometres tonight under a big full moon. The plovers were around again…we’re still mates, still no swooping 😅, so I’ll call that a win. More kilometres down, more support rolling in, and we keep moving closer to the goal. Really grateful for everyone backing this. 💛

Day 3 – Old Shirt, Same Mission 💛

Wednesday 4th Mar
Still waiting on the new challenge shirt, so the old faithful 86K tee made another appearance tonight. Trivia Tuesday it’s the crew so it was a late one out getting the steps in. Must say it’s a peaceful time to walk and think, & I’m pretty sure I’m in the good books with the local plovers, they haven’t swooped me yet 😅 86 kids will be diagnosed this month. 86 families navigating a road they never planned for. That’s the reason we keep moving, even when it’s dark, even when we’re tired. If you’ve been meaning to donate, this is your reminder. Every bit genuinely counts.

Day 2 - Gettin it done 💛

Wednesday 4th Mar
Four hours sleep last night and I definitely didn’t get my walk done this morning. Work all day, then straight into the final painting touches at the reno. By the time I checked the clock tonight, it was late… I should have done a third coat, but the kilometres needed to happen. So I “laced up”… except I didn’t. I wore sandals. Rookie error. Regretted that decision about 800 metres in, no turning back. Not glamorous. Not perfectly planned. Just making it work. Some days you’re energised. Other days you’re running on fumes in questionable footwear. But we keep stepping forward - because the kids we’re walking for don’t get to sit it out. Another few kilometres closer to 86. 💛

Day 1 - We’re Underway 💛

Monday 2nd Mar
Yesterday we officially kicked off 86K for a Cure as The Nectar Hummingbirds. One kilometre for every Australian child diagnosed with cancer each month. It’s a powerful number - 86 kids, every single month - and behind each one is a family whose world has been turned upside down. April may have come home with slightly more than just donations… a solid sunburn to match the kilometres she clocked yesterday ☀️🔥 Commitment level: high. Sunscreen application: questionable. Jokes aside, this challenge is about something far bigger than us. Every step helps fund research for safer, more effective treatments for kids facing cancer. We’re on the board. We’ve started strong. If you’ve been meaning to donate, now’s the time to jump in and help us build momentum from day one. 💛
