BT Steps for Children's Cancer Institute 2022

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the thousands of children who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis, raise awareness about the reality of childhood cancer, and emphasise the importance of research.

To recognise the importance of this month, I, along with my EY team members, am participating in STEPtember. The goal is to walk 10,000 steps per day, however, I have made it my personal mission to walk 15,000 steps in an attempt to raise as many donations as we can!

We have chosen to fundraise for the Children's Cancer Institute (CCIA), and, more specifically to the Isaac McInnes foundation, to specifically focus on brain cancer research – a cause close to the heart of the Business Transformation team.

CCIA is the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to curing childhood cancer. Brain cancer kills more Australian children than any other disease and the survival rate for brain cancer hasn’t changed in the last 30 years (every year in Australia approx. 40 children die from brain cancer.) For cancers like Leukaemia where extensive funded research has been undertaken, survival rates are now over 90%. Research saves lives.
