Calories Against Childhood Cancer – CrossFit Maitland
On 21 February 2024, we lost a beautiful 5-year-old girl named Aria Zimmermann.
She was just four when she was diagnosed with leukemia. After 18 months of treatment, she passed away. Aria was smart, brave, full of love, and the best big sister. She deserved so much more.
Last year, on what would have been her 6th birthday, CrossFit Marrickville hosted a charity WOD in her honour. The community came together and raised over $100,000 for the Children’s Cancer Institute and Bear Cottage. It was a powerful reminder of what we can do when we show up together.
This year, we’re proud to bring the effort to CrossFit Maitland. This cause is close to our hearts.
Cass’ niece, Ella, was just 12 when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had one of her lungs removed during treatment and has since recovered well, showing incredible strength throughout. Her journey - like Aria’s - reminds us why raising funds for childhood cancer is so important.
We’re joining gyms across the country on Saturday June 21 for a 90-minute calorie-burning workout, with every dollar raised going to the Children’s Cancer Institute - the only research centre in Australia solely focused on curing childhood cancer.
