Melbourne - Barossa Valley
The sixth annual Ride for Lily – Bike to the Barossa – will take place from 9th - 15th April 2022.
Riders will be taking on over 1000km from Melbourne to Barossa to raise money to find a cure for childhood cancer in memory of Lily Hesther.
Lily was just eight years old when she was diagnosed with an extremely rare liver cancer. She endured over 6 months of chemotherapy, 6 operations, radiation, amongst other scans, tests and many hospital visits. In January 2014, Lily did go into remission but sadly after another scan in March 2014, she received the devastating news that her cancer was terminal. Brave Lily sadly passed away on 11th August 2014 after a hard and brave battle.
Live for Lily Foundation was established to honour Lily and with the hope of finding a cure for childhood cancer. The Foundation has raised over $1,000,000 for Children’s Cancer Institute.
Oli's first Ride for Lily
Lily's brother Oli is riding to honour Lily's legacy this year. For Oli, the Ride for Lily "is about committing to a challenge and working hard to raise money for childhood cancer research. Putting yourself in the shoes of kids battle cancer - through physical challenges, lots of training and long days of riding."
