As Australian Croatians, members of our community and our community associations have, over many decades, excelled at helping those in need both here in Australia and those living in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. One could say that our community serves two homelands – the one we live in and the one we left behind but never forgot.

February and March 2023 mark 30 years since the Australian Croatian community rallied together to help war-torn Croatia and establish its Diplomatic-Consular missions in Australia with donated funds and donations in kind. Indeed, the office space of the Consulate General of the Republic of Croatia in Sydney was purchased and equipped, so too the Embassy in Canberra, first leased then a palace built with our community's generosity and love. We are so very proud of our Croatian Community’s achievements and wish to use this Thirtieth Anniversary of its enormous generosity to benefit children suffering from cancer via donating to research into curing childhood cancer for which the Children’s Cancer Institute exists. Among these children are also children whose parents or grandparents originate in Croatia and with your help we wish to make their lives better and safer from such an illness.

We, the Croatian Gala Ball organisers, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity in donating funds that will invest in a future for our children and those to be born yet, that will hopefully be free of cancer.

About Children's Cancer Institute

Every year more than 1000 Australian children and adolescents will be diagnosed with cancer, and every week nearly three Australian children and adolescents will die of cancer. Children's Cancer Institute exists solely to put a stop to this.

As the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to childhood cancer, their role is vital. Because despite their progress cancer still kills more children than any other disease. Their task won't be easy - childhood cancer is hugely complex - but they're confident that with the brightest brains, the best facilities and the greatest determination, they will get the job done.
