Children's Cancer Institute is fortunate to be joined by several volunteer-led committees standing with us on our mission to find a cure for childhood cancer. Please see below for more information on who are committees are and how you can get involved in their upcoming events.
Every member of each committee holds a special place in our Children's Cancer Institute community and has played a significant part in our fight against childhood cancer.
We welcome new committees to help us continue to save the lives of all children with cancer.
Balmoral Swim for Cancer
The Balmoral Swim has been supporting Children's Cancer Institute since 2006, raising over $1.5million for childhood cancer research. The swim has been run by the local Balmoral committee and the event has grown substantially each year. Not only has the event become a highlight in the diaries of those living in the North Shore, it has also become one of Sydney’s most recognised ocean swims.
Founded in 1977, the Ladies Committee of Children's Cancer Institute is our longest standing volunteer group, raising almost $1million over 40 years. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to funding the purchasing of research equipment for our wold-leading research labs in Randwick.
Live for Lily
The Live for Lily Committee was established in 2014 in memory of Lily Hester, who was sadly diagnosed with an extremely rare liver cancer at just 8 years old. From annual rides to show-stopping gala balls, Live for Lily have raised over $1.1million. The hope of the foundation is to find a cure so that no child or parent has to endure what Lily's did.
Lions Fun Ride
The Lions Fun Ride started in 2005 as a four day fun ride by a cyclists whose grandchild was a cancer survivor, therefore saw the importance of research into childhood cancer. The annual ride has proudly raised over $700,000 and the team are looking forward to getting back on the saddle in 2022!
OEEGA NSW has been operating for more than 30 years, passionately supporting the researchers at Children's Cancer Institute. Since 2007, OEEGA have raised over $414,000 for Children's Cancer Institute through various community activities and successful radiothons.
