Support my Challenge to Help Kids with Cancer!

I am taking part in 86K for a Cure to help find a cure for childhood cancer.

Every month, 86 children are diagnosed with cancer. There is usually no known cause, treatment can go on for many years and it puts an enormous strain on family life.

So I am conquering this challenge for the 86 children who are diagnosed with cancer each month.

Together, we can help find a cure for childhood cancer and create safer, more effective treatments.

Please DONATE NOW and support my challenge to change the lives of kids with cancer.

My Updates

6th of March

Thursday 6th Mar
Well, I cannot believe we're only 6 days into March & I've nearly reached $1000.
My initial goal was only $200. Yesterday's Yesterday's/today's walk is dedicated to sweet, perfect Edward. I've been lucky enough to connect with his amazing Mum, Nina.
I asked her last week if I could dedicate one of my walks to Edward & send some photos.
Diagnosed in 2020, Edward is about to turn 7. Nina said "he's turning 7 but still fits in size 3-4 clothes 🙈 his measurements are in the 10th percentile. I guess I have myself a little pocket rocket"... Relatable!! I'm also a pocket rocket 🙋‍♀️ It's a superpower, darling Edward.

Nina writes, " Gosh he was so little. Literally a baby ringing the bell".

Those words struck a chord. 'A baby ringing the bell'. 🥺 A wave of emotions hit me at once. Thankfully Edward is still with us & his oncologist has recently spread out his regular scans/check ups to 12 monthly. Edward isn't out of the woods but this is a positive step.

Nina- thank you for connecting with me & the photos. Your encouragement & words of wisdom never go unnoticed. Edward is so lucky to have an incredibly strong Mum & family. It's crystal clear where he gets his resilience from 💕🌻

1st of March

Saturday 1st Mar
I managed 2 walks today. The first 2km walk with Mum and Alfie (my cavoodle). And the second 2km walk with me, myself & I. It allowed time to think about all of the beautiful souls I've met during my long & tedious cancer battle. Today was for Jessica who passed away in 2008. I hope my bad leg holds up during the month of March. It was severely damaged during my third tumour resection (on my spine/sacrum). I also hope my daily pain & fatigue doesn't effect my challenge. However, it'll give me motivation thinking about the many children currently undergoing treatment for childhood cancer 💗

The first walk & the 1st of March

Friday 28th Feb
My first walk is dedicated to a beautiful, wee little friend I met at the RCH during my treatment for Neuroblastoma. Her name was Jessica. She loved all things colour, butterflies and had the brightest smile. Like me, Jessica had Neuroblastoma, but sadly passed away during our time in the Oncology ward at the Royal Children's. I often think of her wonderful family. It was 2008 and I was only 17 at the time. Jessica was a lot younger (than me) but was an absolute favourite with the doctors and nurses. We shared the same oncologist, too. Dr Pratiti (Mimi) Bando; our beautiful, smart & personable oncologist.
