Support my Challenge to Help Kids with Cancer
On 3 October 2005, my little sister Leah was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). She was just 8 years old, meant to be living a carefree, laughter filled childhood - but cancer had other plans.
Life as we knew it was turned upside down. The Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane was a second home. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, months into a blur. Met incredible families, made beautiful friends and tragically lost some along the way.
Watching her endure treatment as a child changed me and my perception of the world. Watching my parents try to stay strong through the fear and exhaustion - I don’t know how they did it. What my little sister went through is something no one should face, especially not a child.
She made it through over 2 years of treatment - 18 years ago now.
She will forever be the strongest person I know, and I feel beyond lucky to still have her by my side. She truly was a remarkable little girl, and now a remarkable woman. I look up to her in so many ways.
This March, I’m taking on 86K for a Cure - completing 86km for my sister, and for the 86 children diagnosed with cancer every month in Australia.
