Hi, we are fundraising for Matty’s Hope
Please support the Normanhurst Boys HS fundraiser in memory of Matthew Lam.
Matthew sadly lost his battle to a debilitating brain cancer – known as Glioblastoma H3G34R – on 29 July 2022, just five months shy of his 21st birthday.
There’s currently very little in the way of treatment options available for this kind of brain cancer apart from radiation and one type of chemotherapy drug. I believe more can be done to save the lives of children and young people like Matty who are diagnosed with brain cancer.
Children’s Cancer Institute is the only medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicate to curing childhood cancer and innovate safer treatments for children.
Matty’s Hope is a research project led by Professor David Ziegler and Dr Maria Tsoli from the Brain Tumour team at Children’s Cancer Institute. This project aims to discover alternative approaches to therapeutic targets that can improve patient outcomes for the rare tumour that Matt had – Glioblastoma H3G34R.
