Support my Challenge to Help Kids with Cancer!
I’m taking part in the 86K for a Cure Challenge to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
The very first year this challenge ran, a close friend’s little 3-year-old girl was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. Until then, the statistic that 86 children are diagnosed with cancer every month was just a number to me. Suddenly, it wasn’t a number anymore - it was a child I knew, a family I loved, and a life turned upside down overnight.
Childhood cancer often has no known cause. Treatment can last years, and while a child is fighting for their life, their entire family is fighting alongside them - emotionally, physically and financially.
So this challenge is for those 86 kids diagnosed every month.
For the parents sitting beside hospital beds.
For the siblings whose childhood suddenly changes.
And for the families who don’t get the ending they hoped for.
I’ll be completing 86km to help raise funds for better treatments, more research, and ultimately a cure - so that one day fewer families have to hear those words.
