Carys is thriving thanks to your support
Thanks to your incredible generosity, we're transforming outcomes for children with cancer. Discover the breakthroughs you've made possible.
On behalf of everyone at Children’s Cancer Institute – and the children and families whose lives you are changing – thank you for your extraordinary support over the last 12 months.
Since joining the Institute as the new Executive Director in December 2025, I have been deeply moved by the generosity and commitment of our supporters.
As you explore this report, you will see powerful examples of research impact that simply would not be possible without your support. I hope you feel proud of your contribution.
Together we can and we will cure every child of cancer. It's not if, it's when.

Executive Director
ZERO gave Carys a second chance
When Carys relapsed with leukaemia, her parents were desperate for answers. Thanks to the Zero Childhood Cancer Program, researchers discovered she had an extremely rare subtype that changed everything about her treatment approach.
We’re thrilled to share an update on her progress as she approaches two years post-transplant. Her story is a powerful reminder of what's possible when supporters like you fuel life-saving research.
ZERO to expand to help more young Australians
In March, the Australian Government committed $112.6 million to ensure ZERO remains available to all children with cancer - and to expand it to young people aged 19 to 25 with paediatric-type cancers, a group with historically poor outcomes.
But the momentum doesn't stop there. Discover how we're developing powerful new tools that are advancing personalised cancer care even further.
The breakthroughs you'll read about in the Impact Report are only possible because of supporters like you. But there's still so much work to be done. Please consider making a donation to keep the momentum going.
The most powerful way you can make a difference is by becoming a monthly donor. Your generous support each month can help us to move closer to a future where every single child will survive their cancer.
A life should be long.

New hope for children with High-Risk Neuroblastoma
Our researchers have made a major breakthrough in the fight against neuroblastoma - discovering a way to significantly disrupt tumour growth and enhance response to existing therapies.
But the story of four year old Asher, reminds us why this research is so desperately needed.
Discovering a potential new approach for the deadliest childhood brain cancers
For children diagnosed with DIPG and other deadly brain cancers, treatment options have been devastatingly limited. Average survival is just 12 months after diagnosis.
Thanks to your support, our researchers have achieved a major breakthrough, recently published in Science Translational Medicine.
This research is opening doors that were previously closed, offering hope where none existed before.
Make an extraordinary impact
Our community of passionate monthly donors provide our researchers with the stability they need to pursue long-term breakthroughs. Johan has been making monthly donations since 2007.
"Losing a childhood friend to leukaemia stayed with me all these years and it made me determined to help find cures. This is why supporting the research of Children's Cancer Institute really aligns."
