For Remy

On April 5th, 2025, our whole world came crashing down. One of our 13 month old twins, Remy, was diagnosed with Infant B-Cell ALL Leukemia with KMT2A-r.

Babies shouldn’t be getting diagnosed and dying of cancer. Losing their ability to walk, crawl, sit and talk. Spending their childhoods in hospital wards instead of their homes. Playing with nurses and IV lines, instead of their siblings.
Being filled with toxic drugs, having invasive tests and being in so much pain they require 24/7 morphine. Parents being told there’s no other treatment options besides the ones that can cause heart failure, neurotoxicity, and neutropenia, because without it, their baby will die. Being told your baby has more chance of dying than surviving.

But unfortunately, this is our reality, and so many other families.

Infant leukaemia is rare, aggressive and fast moving with a high rate of relapse - making it a high-risk paediatric cancer. It is found in babies from birth-1 year.

The current prognosis rate is only 40-50%.

Due to the lack of funding and research, the current treatment options for babies like Remy are intense, toxic, and high risk. They have many devastating short and long term side effects and risks.

Remy deserves better.

We want to watch Remy grow up with his siblings and have a normal childhood.

We want Remy to survive, be cancer free and have a healthy future.

We want safer treatment options and a cure for cancer, for all babies like Remy.

More research, clinical trials and awareness is needed.

That is why we’ve teamed up with the Children’s Cancer Institute to raise much needed funds to support the ongoing research for ALL.

Remy's Story

Remy was only 13 months old when his mum, Amy, took him to the hospital for a few spots on his leg. Within hours, Remy and his parents were being transferred to a specialist Children’s hospital to be told the devastating news that one of their twin baby boys had a rare, high risk, blood cancer and the current prognosis rate was only 40-50%.

Word’s that have changed their lives forever.

“Sitting in a cold hospital room cuddling your baby, while a team of 10 doctors are telling you that your baby has cancer is soul destroying. Those first few days after his diagnosis are still a blur. We were told not to google his cancer type, because they knew the current prognosis statistic was not something we would want to read. Our whole future and how we see the world has been changed forever.” - Amy, Remy’s mum.

The long road ahead...

Remy has endured more in the last 4 months of treatment than any one person should in a lifetime. The toxic treatments and drugs he requires to give him a chance of survival have already had many devastating short and long term side effects, including nausea, hair loss, ulcers, loss of the ability to stand, crawl, roll, sit and swallow solid foods, weeks of neutropenia, neurotoxicity and seizures to name a few.

Remy still has a long road ahead of him. His treatment plan includes another 5-6 months of high dose chemotherapy, followed by another 1-1.5 years of daily, follow up chemotherapy. That’s IF all goes to plan and he’s one of the lucky ones to not relapse.

Remy has a twin brother, Sonny, and two older siblings, August and Zephyr, who need their baby brother to come home and be healthy. They need him to survive this and for them to all to grow up together.

“We hope to one day raise enough money to directly fund research and safer treatment options for infant leukemia, so no parent has to ever endure what we have and be told their baby not only has cancer but has more chance of dying than surviving.” - Amy, Remy’s mum.
