Aria should have had a lifetime of Christmases.
Aria absolutely loved Christmas.
She loved the lights – the more over-the-top, the better – and dreamed of having a real reindeer in her front yard one day.
But in September 2022, when Aria was just four years old, she was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
After 18 months of treatment and devastating complications, Aria passed away in February 2024. She was just five.

Months after Aria’s diagnosis, genomic testing through the Zero Childhood Cancer Program (ZERO) revealed rare chromosomal abnormalities.
Had this information been known at diagnosis, Aria likely would have been classified as high-risk, and a different treatment pathway could have been considered much sooner.
But by the time those answers emerged, nothing more could be done.

Christmas without Aria
Aria was a giver. Even from her hospital bed in December 2023, surrounded by tubes and machines, she spent hours searching for the perfect Christmas gift for her little brother, Lucas: a giant four-storey racing car garage.
Doctors managed to get Aria home for Christmas Day. Her mum, Chrissy, didn’t know it would be their last Christmas together.
Today, Aria’s family keeps her memory alive in small but meaningful ways. Each year, Lucas adds to the musical Christmas toy collection she started. This year, he chose Santa riding a rocket so he could “shoot up to heaven to see Aria.”
For Aria’s family, Christmas will never be the same.
