Every child should get the chance to grow up and grow old. To plan exciting futures, chase their dreams, and live a life that is full of possibilities.
But cancer cuts life short for hundreds of children every year. In Australia alone, every week, three young lives will be lost to the disease.
For over 40 years, Children’s Cancer Institute has been conducting research into the causes, prevention and cure of childhood cancer. We’ve made great progress, but we won’t stop until every child can live a long, happy and healthy life.
This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, please donate $1 for every year you've been lucky enough to live and help us find a cure for every child with cancer.
A life should be long.
and I'm donating
$
to help children beat cancer and get the chance to grow up, and grow older, like I have.
Huey was just 10 weeks old when his parents noticed their usually happy, content sleeper was becoming cranky and unsettled. After numerous doctor visits, Huey was diagnosed with Stage 4S neuroblastoma. A 5cm tumour was impeding his breathing and had spread to his liver, causing it to swell to five times its normal size.
Huey underwent eight rounds of intensive chemotherapy treatment, receiving countless blood transfusions to help him get through. While the treatment successfully shrunk the tumour and returned his liver to normal size, some neuroblastoma cells remained in highly sensitive, inoperable areas around his carotid artery and liver.
Thankfully, today, Huey is a funny, vibrant and strong 8 year old. He still attends yearly check-ups with his oncology team, but he recently learnt to ski and lives and breathes everything rugby league.
Please donate your age today, and help our research team to find more effective treatment options for kids like Huey, and ultimately a cure for every child with cancer.
"Donations for this research is vital, because we want to try and minimise the impact that cancer treatment has on these kids."
- Jill, Huey's Mum
