Our vision

Children's Cancer Institute Australia's (CCIA) vision is to save the lives of all children with cancer and eliminate their suffering.

Our mission

  • To be a leader in preventing cancer and finding ways of curing cancer in children through world-class research.
  • To ensure the best possible quality of life for these children and their families.
  • To share the vision with others and increase awareness, participation and funding

 

Medical research: Ten research areas focusing on translational - “bench to bedside” - research aimed at improving treatment and survival rates for children with cancer.

ACRF Drug Discovery Centre: Unique drug-screening facility, housed within the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, dedicated to the development of new anti-cancer therapeutics.

Fundraising and community support: Broad program of community and corporate-sector involvement initiatives that provide CCIA with financial and other support through:

Public outreach: Presentation called “Kicking Cancer's Arse” developed to educate young people about cancer and cancer research at CCIA, run by CCIA's postdoctoral researchers. 

Career and study opportunities: Comprehensive career development program aimed at teaching the next generation of CCIA researchers.

Scientific seminars: Regular seminar series with scientific presentations from CCIA scientists and guest researchers from other institutes.
