Founding partner

Apex Australia is the founding partner of Children’s Cancer Institute Australia. Through an inspirational effort in the late 1970s, Apex Clubs across the country raised more than $1.3 million to fund construction of the Apex Centre. The Centre occupied the ground level of the Institute's previous research facilities. This commitment from Apex came at a time when research into childhood cancer was just beginning in Australia. Apex has been with us the entire way of our journey, from the foundations of our one-storey research laboratory to a flourishing, internationally recognised medical research institute. It continues to play a key role in our goal of improving the outlook for children with cancer through world-class research.

Platinum partner

In 1996, Lions began an extraordinary partnership with CCIA with the launch of the Lions Cord Blood Appeal. Now in its 12th year, the Australia-wide Lions fundraising efforts have supported the Institute’s research into the improved treatment, prevention and cure of childhood cancer. Lions funds have most recently supported the Molecular Epidemiology Program, which studies genes and factors in the environment that determine the risk of developing disease.
