Amanda Philp
BSc (Hons) VU, PhD UniMelb
Amanda completed her PhD studies at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and was awarded her PhD from the University of Melbourne in 2003, before undertaking three years of postdoctoral research studying novel protein phosphatases at the MRC Protein Phosphorylation Unit, University of Dundee, Scotland.
Moving to CCIA in 2006, Amanda worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Professor Richard Lock on the Leukaemia Biology Program, developing a model for acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APML).
As a researcher herself, Amanda understands the need for proactive career development for Early Career Researchers, and since 2008 she has been dedicated to offering support, direction and advice to scientific staff to ensure CCIA develop the highest caliber of staff and students.
Amanda is committed to advocating for medical research through the support and development of public outreach initiatives and currently serves on the board of the Australian Society for Medical Research.
