RESEARCH AREAS Relapse in ALL Drug resistance and the p53 gene Gene-tageted therapy Gene polymorphisms
This program is utilising molecular genetic techniques to improve the diagnosis and risk classification of childhood cancers including leukaemia. Major areas within the Program include molecular detection of residual disease following chemotherapy, the use of functional genomics and high-throughput screening strategies to detect novel molecular targets and relevant inhibitors, as well as molecular epidemiological studies of causative agents and genetic susceptibility to childhood cancer.
STUDENT PROJECTS
- Regulation of multi-drug resistance in adult cancers by the Myc oncogene
- Mechanism of relapse in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
